Can You Travel To Indonesia?

Currently, all non-Indonesian travellers are prohibited from entering Indonesia, although there are exceptions to this ban:

  • diplomats
  • holders of Indonesia Temporary Residence Card (KITAS) and Indonesia Permanent Residence Card (KITAP)
  • Foreign nationals due special discretion and provided with written permission from relevant ministries/government institutions.
  • Visitor Visa (for emergency and essential work, a business meeting, family reunion on medical/compassionate grounds, probationary period for foreign workers, medical, food, humanitarian aid or a crew member joining a vessel)

You should reconfirm your eligibility to enter Indonesia with your travel agent/airline and the Indonesian Embassy. This can be done by contacting the Consular Section of the Indonesian Embassy on: consular@indonesianembassy.org.uk.

Entry requirements if you meet the above criteria are:

  • You must be in possession of a health certificate confirming a negative COVID-19 PCR test (swab test) result, which can be checked by a QR code or barcode, issued a maximum of 72 hours prior to your departure for Indonesia
  • Evidence of having received two full doses of COVID-19 vaccine
  • Submitting a letter in English stating that you are willing to enter quarantine for at least 8 days in quarantine facilities or health service facilities according to Indonesian health protocols
  • With the exception of transportation crews and aid and humanitarian workers, visitor visa applicants are required to provide evidence of the availability of at least US$10,000 or the equivalent from their sponsor
  • On arrival, you will need to undergo further COVID-19 swab tests on days 1 and 7 and quarantine at your own expense in a designated hotel for a period of 8 days. If your final test is negative, you will be allowed to proceed with your journey. If the test is positive, you will be referred to hospital
  • You are required to complete the Indonesian eHAC registration and be able to produce the QR code generated on arrival in Indonesia for inspection

Local Measures
Large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta, most of Java island and Bali, currently covering the period of 3-20 July. Essential services are available, but public activities (including schools, offices, religious activities, social and cultural gatherings and public transportation) continue to be limited to maintain social distancing. It is mandatory to wear a face mask when outside. Non-essential businesses are closed and the public are advised to work from home from 3-20 July.

Public health measures by the Indonesian authorities include restrictions on in-country air travel.
Foreign tourists continue to be able to travel on domestic flights within Indonesia to catch connecting international flights.
Passengers travelling on domestic flights will need:

  • A PCR certificate issued to confirm that they are free of COVID-19. Your certificate should have a readable barcode or QR code.
  • A completed airline travel declaration form where required.
  • A completed Indonesian e-HAC form (online)
  • Proof of vaccination in the form of a vaccination certificate showing at least 1 Covid vaccination having been administered.

If flying to Bali, you will need:

  • A negative PCR swab test result taken within 48 hours of departure to Bali and a completed e-HAC Indonesia form (online). Your negative PCR test certificate must contain a barcode or QR code. If you do not have a barcode/QR code on your certificate, you will be required to take an additional PCR test at the airport on arrival in Bali. GeNose test is no longer valid. For those arriving by sea a PCR test with 48 hr validity or a negative rapid test, again with 48hr validity is required.
  • Your vaccination certificate showing at least 1 COVID-19 vaccine having been administered.
  • If flying to Jakarta you will require a negative PCR swab test taken a maximum of 48 hours prior to departure for Jakarta and a completed e-HAC Indonesia form (online).
  • Your vaccination certificate showing at least 1 COVID-19 vaccine having been administered.

You should check the latest requirements with your airline directly. The Garuda airlines travel declaration form is available on our social media channels.

Please consult the following website for up to date information on testing requirements as the situation can change quickly.

Destination Denpasar: must show a health certificate with a negative RT-PCR test/negative rapid antigen test result issued within a maximum period of 24 hours before departure

Travelling To Indonesia FAQs

Advice and answers from the Corona Test Centre Team

What do the three colours of the UK’s ‘Traffic Light System’ for travel mean?

  • Red: You must pay for a 10-day stay in a managed quarantine hotel, as well as taking a pre-departure test (a Fit to Fly test) and two PCR tests upon return to the UK (Day 2 & Day 8).
  • Amber: You will need to quarantine for 10 days, as well as taking a pre-departure test (a Fit to Fly test), and two PCR tests on return to the UK (Day 2 & Day 8). When you return to the UK,  you can take a test on Day 5 (Test to Release) to leave quarantine early.
  • Green: You will not need to quarantine on return, but you must take a pre-departure test (a Fit to Fly test), and a PCR test on return to the UK on Day 2.

How will the government decide which countries go on the green, amber or red lists?

Countries are assigned to the three lists, based on a range of Covid-19 health metrics, which include figures on population vaccination, infection rates and prevalence of variants. The different traffic light colours indicate the risk in each destination and the associated tests and quarantine periods required. Lists are reassessed every three weeks, to account for changes in each country’s COVID-19 situation.

Will I need a PCR Fit to Fly Certificate to travel to

Indonesia

?

The PCR test is the gold standard for testing coronavirus and so is recommended for travel to all countries. For Indonesia, only PCR Fit to Fly Certificates are accepted. If you have been vaccinated, Indonesia will accept this as proof.

Will I need an Antigen Fit to Fly Certificate to travel to

Indonesia

?

Indonesia accepts vaccination as an entry requirement and so you may not need to provide a PCR or Antigen Fit to Fly Certificate. However, to ensure that you and the people you meet when travelling are safe, we always recommend taking a PCR or Antigen test before travel.

Will I need a Day 2 test or Day 2 and 8 when I return to the UK?

Indonesiais currently on the red list, this means that you will need a Day 2 PCR test and a Day 8 PCR test. You will need to buy this before you travel to the UK and use the reference code on your passenger location form. You can book these tests online, but you will also have to arrange accommodation at a government chosen hotel on your arrival into the UK. Please note that the travel restrictions are subject to change at very short notice.

I’m vaccinated, what tests do I need?

Indonesia is currently on the red list. Even though you are vaccinated, you will still need a Day 2 PCR test and a Day 8 PCR test. You will need to buy this before you travel to the UK and use the reference code on your passenger location form. You can book these tests online, but you will also have to arrange accommodation at a government chosen hotel on your arrival into the UK. Please note that the travel restrictions are subject to change at very short notice.

Can I enter

Indonesia

with a double vaccination certificate?

Indonesia accepts vaccination as an entry requirement and so you may not need to provide a PCR Fit to Fly Certificate

What happens if I have visited another country before flying back to the UK from

Indonesia

?

The government advice for passengers travelling from Indonesia is that if you have visited another country in the 10 days before you arrive in the UK that is a higher risk than Indonesia, you must follow the travel guidance for the highest risk country you visited.

What else will I need to return to the UK?

For all countries, including Indonesia, you will need to take an Antigen Fit to Fly test before departing for the UK. This can be bought at Corona Test Centre’s to take with you on your travels.
