The UK has removed all countries from the Red List and currently does not impose different entry requirements depending on where you are travelling from. Entry requirements depend on whether or not you are fully vaccinated.
However, this may be subject to change if countries are again added to the ‘Red List’. In this case, if you arrive to the UK and have been in a country on the red list during the last 10 days you must pay for a 10-day stay in a managed quarantine hotel, as well as a pre-departure test and two PCR tests upon return to the UK (Day 2 & Day 8). You will only be allowed to enter the UK if you are a British or Irish national or you have residence rights in the UK. You can find more information relating to red list countries on the UK government's website.
An Antigen test looks for viral surface proteins of the virus. It will confirm if you currently have the virus. It will not confirm whether you have had it and have developed an immune response - there are other tests available for that (see our antibody test). It’s a faster and cheaper alternative to a PCR test and has an accuracy of 98%.
The Day 2 Lateral Flow test is mandatory for fully vaccinated travellers when returning to the UK and includes a code for your passenger locator form, which you are required to fill out before your return.
